Nurturing Creative and Responsible Digital Citizens
Join us for this lunch time discussion group

Schools have always been charged with the task of producing good citizens. But how has our definition of a "good citizen" changed over the ages?

In today's world of near-ubiquitous connectivity, in which ordinary people have almost instantaneous access to unlimited stores of information and the ability to interact with anyone, anywhere, anytime, what does it mean to be an effective citizen?

What skills and knowledge do our students need to participate fully in a world transformed by technology? What role should our schools play in developing effective digital citizens?

Lets discuss these question and more!  What is being done in our classrooms now to address the "Digital Citizen".  What should be done?

Assistive Technology  on Mac and OS
Learn about the built in features of OSX that support  struggling or disabled students.  Help your students with fluency skills or comprehension skills using the dictionary, use dictation,or use the picture in picture for students to enlarge on portions of the screen.  The iPad has nearly all the same built features and lets add guided practice.  Using guided practice, a parent or teacher can disable the home key to help students with attention or sensory challenges to stay on the app of choice and not get distracted.
A group sharing time will cover tips and tricks for helping students that may need accommodations to remain an active part of the class.  Be ready to share one idea that works for you and together we can build a nice list of options for meeting all students needs.
