DESCRIPTION: Schoolwires is a web-based solution that is expressly designed to connect K-12 communities with the information, services and people they need to achieve their district goals. In this session we will set up a classroom (department) website page. We will go over setting up a site, creating pages, attaching documents, and adding a calendar.
REQUIREMENTS: You will need to have logged into the www.kgbsd.org website at some point.

Description: This Mac based session will be a demonstration on how I use Google Drive within my classes at Schoenbar Middle School. Learners will learn about the basic structure of Google Drive and the possibilities with it. Next learners will learn about the Rule of Thirds and we will break to take different shots that will be uploaded into Google Drive (if you have your own digital camera as well as cords, please bring them). Learners will then be invited to look a the pictures uploaded and comment if the pictures followed the Rule of Thirds as well as shot selection.
Requirements: You will need a Gmail account, Mac Computer, Digital Camera, and cord that connect your camera to your computer.

We will spend time using the iTunes Store to find grade appropriate content in the Podcast Directory and iTunesU courses and collections. We will also explore the iTunesU course manger interface for creating your own courses.
REQUIREMENTS: You will need to have iPad with iOS 7 and iTunesU app. Also bring your Mac laptop if you have one.

DESCRIPTION: This Mac based session will focus on learning to make podcasts using GarageBand and Keynote to create content to be used in classrooms. Students can use podcasts to share an experience or demonstrate learning. Participants will plan and create a podcast project that can be used in the classroom and will explore ways to integrate podcasts into their curriculum.
REQUIREMENTS: Mac OS X computer with OS 10.7 or higher, GarageBand 6.05 (iLife ’11 version)
(Important Note: the newest version of GarageBand 10.0 does NOT have podcast capabilities.)

DESCRIPTION: Come and learn how and what Google forms are. Session will explore making forms for surveys, data gathering, homework turn in bin, and more! The second half of the morning will be used to discover how to use Google Forms to make self grading quizzes using Floobaro. This tool can grade online assignments in under a minute, get reporting and analysis on student performance, email students their scores.

As we move students to a digital platform classroom workflows need to adjust to manage this new technology. This session will explore some best practices and options you have to start going digital in the classroom. We will explore options for having students turn in work, folders, sharing documents, creating documents, and getting needed electronic documents out to students. Avoid having a classroom full of students email you their homework only to find out it is way too overwhelming!

TITLE: Using Macs and iOS Devices to Develop Reading Fluency

DESCRIPTION: Participants learn how to use digital audio tools and mobile devices for language assessment and how to access the vast array of language development resources. Demonstrations and activities will focus on blended learning environments using both computers and mobile devices. We will model the use of voice recording apps to develop reading fluency. We will also explore how iBooks, Pages, multimedia tools, and accessibility features can enhance literacy skills and encourage the writing process.
